Assafir: Former lebanese premier stresses Syria's importance to Lebanon
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 3/8/2005
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Huss underlined on Monday the importance of Syria and its situation for Lebanon saying the US, France and the United Nations are on one side and Syria is on the other.
"Syria has a weight that can not be ignored. Therefore any international behavior that takes no notice of this or deny it -- will lead to something appalling in the Lebanese society," al-Huss said.
In an article published by Lebanese Assafir newspaper, al-Huss called to remind the United States over Iraq that due to its occupation of Iraq it was she who controls the Iraqi side of the Syrian-Iraqi border.
"What is the logic that the US reproaches Syria over not controlling the Syrian side of the border and not blaming itself for not controlling the Iraqi side of the border," he asked.
