Moussa: Sudan issue tops priority for Arab League
Regional-Sudan, Politics, 3/7/2005

Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Amr Moussa said yesterday the Sudanese issue tops the pan-Arab organization's list of priorities.

During a joint news conference following his Meeting with Sudanese Foreign minister Mustafa Osman Isamil, Moussa reiterated Sudan was priority at the political and economic levels.

He affirmed that the AL would also be keen on rebuilding Sudan.

Moussa noted that the Arab foreign ministers agreed, during their recent council meeting, on supporting the African stance regarding the Darfur issue. No independent Arab policy towards Darfur was approved, he underlined.

For his part, Ismail said he discussed three issues with the AL Chief. Firstly, the peace accord agreed upon in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi, Ismail said, adding that he briefed Moussa on the steps taken and the timetable approved to implement the agreement.
