The first meeting for the Iraqi elected national assembly after ten days
Iraq, Politics, 3/7/2005
Amid atmospheres of prediction, the Iraqi deputy prime minister Barham Saleh expected that the elected National Assembly will convene its first meeting after ten days, whether an agreement is made on the formation of the new government or the disputes continue to persist.
Saleh expressed his hope that the Iraqi politicians would conclude an agreement on the distribution of government's posts before the meeting of the general assembly. The main point of difference lies in the persons who will occupy the post of the prime minister.
The United Iraqi Coalition supported by the Shiite clergy Ayatullah Ali al-Seistani chose for this post Ibrahim al-Jafaari who is in need of the support of the Kurdish coalition which won the second position in the elections, so as he will be able to get the to position in the government.
