Iraqis killed, continued attacks in Iraq

Five Iraqis were killed including one woman and two others were injured at the hands of unidentified gunmen on the highway in al-Kout city to the south of Baghdad.

In al-Musil to the north of Iraq, member of Ninwa governorate was killed at the hands of unidentified gunmen. One official in the governorate said that the law teacher Hana Abdul Qader was assassinated at the hands of gunmen who were driving a car in al-Nour quarters in the downtown of the city, noting that she and other 11 members in the governorate council submitted their resignation. Hana was the second member in the governorate council to be killed after the veterinary doctor Nahla Aziz al-Issa in 2004.

In Baghdad, two mortars shelling fell on the strongly fortified Green Zone but no casualties were reported.

With the deterioration of the security condition in Iraq, some 30 persons demonstrated including several tribal leaders from the Salma Bak area to the south of Baghdad and demanded ensuring security for their area which have become a haven for "outlaws," according to them.

In Hella to the south of Baghdad, families if the victims of the attacks of the booby trapped car which resulted in killing 128 persons last week continued demonstrations to form an investigation committee on the reasons behind the attack and to punish the executors.
