Amir of Qatar starts an official visit to UAE
United Arab Emirates-Qatar, Politics, 3/7/2005

The Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani stressed that the visit he had started yesterday to the United Arab Emirates aims at consolidating bilateral relations and consultations in various regional and international issues.

He said in statements to the UE news agency that the visit constitutes a good occasion to exchange views and consultation on various regional and international issues in the service of the joint interests of the two states and people under changes and developments taking place in the world at the political and economic scenes.

The UAE news agency which gave the news gave no mention to the duration of the visit, but indicated that the President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al-Nahyan received the Amir of Qatar and members of the accompanying delegation.

At the beginning of March, Sheikh Hamad stressed a project on linking his country to each of UAE and Bahrain via two bridges.

He said "we are in our way to link Qatar to Bahrain via a bridge. We do also hope to have a train for commodity and labor force of Bahrain needed by Qatar within the 15 coming years." The Amir of Qatar indicated that there is a joint committee between Qatar and UAE studying the project of linking the two states via land.

The delegation which accompanies the Amir of Qatar includes the foreign minister of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin jasem al-Thani and the minister of state Abdullah Bin Khaleifa al-Ateyah.

Worthy mentioning, the Amir of Qatar visited earlier the UAE and discussed with Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed al-nahyan bilateral relations and conditions in the region.
