Morocco to level itself with European norms, PM
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 3/5/2005
The reforms introduced in all fields will level Morocco with the European standards, said in Rabat Thursday, Moroccan Premier, Driss Jettou.
The Moroccan PM, who was meeting with visiting German parliament deputy speaker, Susanne Kastner, said Morocco's conclusion of the Association Agreement with the EU evidences the Kingdom's choice to adhere to the European norms and standards, said a press release of the Prime Minister's office.
The bulk of Morocco's budget goes to education and training, said Jettou, recalling that other projects to reduce poverty, provide housing, water and electricity and to ease access to rural areas are underway.
The German official, who started a three-day visit to Morocco on Wednesday, deplored the low flow of her country's investments in Morocco, pointing out that her meetings with Moroccan officials focused on ways to reinforce cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
Kastner praised the "extraordinary achievements" of Morocco in the promotion of women, especially the adoption of the new family code.
