Saudi Arabia recommends immediate Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon
Saudi Arabia-Syria, Politics, 3/4/2005

The Saudi crown prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz on Thursday recommended the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to withdraw quickly from Lebanon and announce scheduling this withdrawal so as to withstand international pressures imposed on his country and to contain the Lebanese crisis.

One Saudi official quoted Crown Prince Abdullah as saying that the Arab states can not oppose these pressures if the Syrian forces will not withdraw from Lebanon.

In Damascus, the Syrian Official news Agency SANA said that the talks of President Bashar al-Assad with the Saudi crown prince Abdullah were constructive and positive and held in a very friendly atmosphere, in contrary to what was stated by news agency on taking about the Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon.

Talks between the two sides were held in the presence of the two foreign ministers Prince Saud al-Faisal and Farouk al-Shara.
