Moroccan may have died of Mad Cow Disease
Morocco, Health, 3/3/2005
A Moroccan man is suspected of having died of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease), health Ministry sources said Wednesday night.
The man, 61, had made frequent visits to Europe, explained the Ministry in a press release, noting that tests will be conducted to confirm the cause of the death.
Morocco lifted the ban on imports of thorough-bred bovines used for reproduction in December 2004. The ban was enforced end of 2000 following the spread of the Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (known as mad cow disease).
