Al-Zarqawi days are numbered
Iraq, Politics, 3/3/2005

Commander of the American central leadership Gen. John AbiZaid considered that the Iraqi security forces are not ready to challenge what he called the rebellion without the support of the American forces and the coalition forces.

AbiZaid notified the armed forces committee at the US senate that the number of armed men in Iraq is decreasing. He added that not more than 3500 gunmen took part in failed attempts to foil the elections which took place in Iraq on January 30, when the Iraqis ignored the risks and went out in huge number to take part in the elections, as he alleged.

Concerning al-Zarqawi, the American military official said that the improvement of sources of the Iraqi intelligence and treason inside ( al-Zarqawi organization ) led to the realization of victories against him and that his days "are numbered." For her part, the US secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that "the resistance in Iraq has no political future " and that the Iraqis consider that "their political future is part in the operation which reaches its end in December 2005 in a free and fair elections." She added "we are not talking about the strategy of leaving, we do think of strategies of success."

Meantime, the President of Ukraine Victor Botshinko said he will withdraw his forces from Iraq in three phases to start in the mid of this month and ends in October. Ukraine's forces in Iraq toll 1650 soldiers.
