Continued violence, demonstrations in Iraq

Sources in the Iraqi forces announced on Tuesday that nine Iraqis were killed and others injured in various attacks that took place on Monday and Tuesday in several areas in Iraq.

According to these sources, two Iraqi contractors were killed on Monday evening in al-Doura area by unidentified gunmen, noting that the company where they work have contracts with the American and Iraqi army.

Four Iraqi soldiers were injured following clashes with unidentified gunmen in Beir Ahmad area. A police officer said the clashes took place after one army procession was exposed to fire by unidentified gunmen.

The police also said that two persons were killed when gunmen attacked the car which they were riding, noting that one of them is the driver of the deputy governor of Deyali.

In al-Ramadi witnesses said that one taxi driver was burnt in his car when American soldiers opened fire on him, while the Iraqi ministry of the interior announced the killing of four Iraqis and injuring other many in different attacks in Baghdad and al-Dewaneyah.

On the other hand, the coalition forces said that the Iraqi army killed 8 gunmen and detained 11 others in Waset governorate to the south of Baghdad.

In Hella city hundreds of the families of the victims of the explosions which took place on Monday and claimed the lives of 125 persons demonstrated demanding to punish members of the security forces who did not carry out their job in maintaining security duly.
