Moroccan MP calls Germany to convert debts into investments
Morocco-Germany, Economics, 3/1/2005
A Moroccan MP has called Germany to swap Moroccan debts into investments to promote sectors of mutual interests.
First deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (Parliament's lower chamber), Driss Sentissi, made this call at a meeting with Vice-president of the Bundestag Committee for Economic Development and Cooperation (SPD), Dagmar Shmidt.
The Moroccan MP called Moroccan partners to support these efforts and establish balanced and fruitful partnership.
Shmidt is leading a parliamentary delegation that held meetings with several Moroccan officials, including Minister-Delegate in charge of Moroccan expatriates, Nouzha Chekrouni, who briefed them on the social developments in Morocco, most importantly the new family code (Moudawana) adopted in January 2004 by the Moroccan parliament.
The German delegation will hold meetings with other Moroccan officials and civil society actors on issues relating to political, economic and social reforms, and relations between Morocco and Germany.
