Bishara: Pressures on Syria serve Israel
Palestine-Syria, Politics, 2/28/2005

The well-known Palestinian intellectual Azmi Bishara on Sunday underlined that Israel and Western countries are working to exploit the assassination of former Lebanese Premier Rafic Hariri to put pressures on Syria to serve Israel's interests in the region.

In a statement to the United Arab Emirate's Al Bayan newspaper, Bishara said: "Outside pressures on Syria are due to Syria' s stance towards the national resistance in Lebanon and Palestine and due to its commitment to restore all the occupied Arab territories were occupied in the year 1967 including the Syrian Golan Heights."

" Syria has important international relations with several world states and it posses enough wisdom to deal with the current issues," he added.

Bishara indicated that the United states and Israel, through their joint pressures on Syria, are trying to direct a strong blow to the Arab identity.
