Qatar- Bahraini committee discusses the implementation of the bridge, economic cooperation

Meetings of the higher joint Bahraini- Qatar committee which discussed means of implementing al-Mahabba (amity) bridge between the two states and fields of cooperation in economic, investment, energy, fishing sectors started on Sunday in Doha.

The Bahrain's news agency said on Saturday that Bahrain's crown prince Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad al-Khalifa will preside over the Bahraini side to the meetings of the 5th session of the committee which lasts for two days.

Bahrain's minister of housing and public works Fahemi al- Jouder announced in the mid of January that the cost of the bridge which will link between his country and Qatar, of 40 Km length will be between 1.5 to 2 billion dollars, but he added that the final cost of the bridge will be set according to the final designs of the project.

Since 1986 Bahrain is linked with a bridge with Saudi Arabia of 20 Km length.
