The process of investigation in the Hariri assassination

The UN investigation team led by Peter Gerald, deputy commissioner for the Irish police, with the help of three members, started their work in Lebanon on Saturday to investigate who stands behind the killing of former prime minister Rafic Hariri and others.
On Saturday, Gerald and his team spent half an hour on the site where Hariri was killed in a preliminary investigation for the site of the explosion. Earlier, the chairman of the team said he wants to work closely with the Lebanese authorities.
Gerald, was appointed recently as a chairman for a UN team, renewed his mission to investigate with complete professionalty and neutrality. The UN has not ruled out that investigation carried out by the team to include other countries in the region.
The spokesman for the UN Fred Eckhard said that the UN team might head to other countries, stressing that members of the team will start in Lebanon and if they feel there is a need to expand the patch exceeding Lebanon as part of the investigation, they will do so."
These developments coincide with the arrival of the US under secretary of state David Satterfield on Saturday and his request of one official meeting with the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud set for today before noon, according to an official source.
