Sharon responds to Ben Ali's invitation to visit Tunisia

One official in the office of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon said that the prime minister agreed to the invitation extended to him by the Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali to visit Tunisia. Official circles stressed that Tunisia had extended this invitation.
News reports quoted the Israeli official as saying that Ariel Sharon received a message from Ben Ali inviting him to attend an international conference for information technology in Tunis in the mid of November this year.
The Israeli paper Yediot Ahronot which quoted the news said on Friday indicated that recent meetings were held between the Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom and Tunis Abdul Baqi Hermasi and other Tunisian officials in order to renew relations which ceased during al-Aqsa Intifada which erupted in September 2000.
The Israeli paper said that the two men held a meeting three months ago in the Hague, Holland in order to discuss renewal of relations. The paper also said another episode will precede Sharon's visit to Tunisia.
Moreover, the Israeli paper said that the first air flight from Ben Gurion International airport to the airport of Jarba city in Tunisia will be on May 24, adding that on the board of the flight which belongs to the Tunisian Cartgo company will be Jewish pilgrims who will visit the famous synagogue in the island and will return back to Israel after one week.
