Syria-UK, Politics, 2/23/2005

The Egyptian newspaper of al-Gomhuria condemned the Britain's Foreign Secretary's statements regarding the assassination of Former Lebanese Premier as "a bad intention against Syria."

"Those statements reflect evil intentions aiming at preparing the scene for a hostile act against Syria to complete the series of aggression targeting the Arab world" the paper said on Tuesday.

In its commentary, the paper added that statements of the British Foreign Secretary echo the U.S. plans and plots being marketed against the Arab nation in Bush's current tour aiming at coordinating positions towards Syria and Lebanon and maybe other states in the Middle East.

The newspaper stressed "importance of boosting the Arab ranks to face aggressive plots targeting the Arab nation."
