Lebanon cooperates with UN on the Hariri investigation
Lebanon-UN, Politics, 2/23/2005

Lebanese Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud stressed on Tuesday that Lebanon is committed to cooperate with the UN on preparing a report to the UN Security Council on the reasons and circumstances of the heinous assassination of former Lebanese Premier Rafic Hariri.

"The international mission, led by an Irish expert, will arrive in Lebanon during two days ... Lebanon will cooperate and help the mission unveils who carried out the crime," the Lebanese Minister told reporters after a meeting with Lebanese President Emile Lahoud.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nasri Khouri said that Syria's commitment to al-Taif Accord and the Coordination, Cooperation and Fraternity Agreement is "permanent and well- known."

"Al-Taif Accord stated that all issues regarding syria and Lebanon are done by coordination between both governments, and there was a permanent commitment, by both sides, to the provisions of the Accord," Khouri said in a statement following a meeting with Lebanese Grand Mufti Rashed Kabani.

Kabani, for his part, during a meeting with the National Assembly Follow-Up Committee, called on Lebanese people not to listen to the radical voices which dismiss dialogue among Lebanese people.
