Oman evacuates 40,000 illegal Pakistani workers

A ship carrying hundreds of evacuated Pakistani workers from Oman arrived in Karachi on Tuesday carrying the last shift out of 40,000 illegal Pakistani workers who were evacuated during the two last years, according to an official source in the migration authority.
When the ship arrived in Karachi, it was carrying 814 illegal Pakistani workers who departed from Muscat port last Sunday.
The official in the Pakistani federal investigation agency Niza Amodin Sheikh said that among the evacuees were persons that went recently there to work in Oman and other jailed for several months in it.
Thousands of Pakistani people travel to the oil rich states in the Middle East in search of work. Many of them entered these countries illegally and many of them are arrested and then evacuated.
Sheikh explained that Oman evacuated some 40,000 Pakistani workers working in the country illegally during the two last year.
He indicated that the investigation committee investigate those evacuees before permitting them to return back to their houses in order to find out evidences about traders who helped them to arrive in Oman without work visa.
