Egyptian al-Ghad party rejects foreign intervention
Egypt, Politics, 2/22/2005
The Egyptian al-Ghad party rejected any foreign aids, ignoring criticism addressed by the US administration over the detention of the party's leader Ayman Nour.
A statement issued by the party stressed not to accept any foreign intervention in the party's affairs, denying the party to have foreign links, directly or non- directly.
To this effect, the US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice expressed concern over the detention of Nour during her meeting with her Egyptian counterpart Ahmad Abu al-Ghait.
In a statement issued Monday, the al-Ghad Party said it was against the attempts of foreign quarters to interfere in the domestic affairs of Egypt.
The Party's acting leader and deputy party leader, Moussa Mustafa warned in the statement against rumors that some party leadership had direct or indirect links with foreign quarters.
The party would issue a weekly statement to clarify its stance on significant issues, he said.
Any statement by any party member would be an expression of his personal views, he added.
Party leader Ayman Nour is under investigative custody over charges of foreign official documents for his newly founded al- Ghad party.
