Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Politics, 2/21/2005

It was announced in Riyadh on Saturday that the Saudi ministry of the interior handed over 19 Yemenis arrested in various security cases to the authorities of their country.

A statement for the official in the Saudi ministry of the interior quoted by the official Saudi news agency said that the security sides handed over to its counterpart in Yemen some 19 Yemenis who were arrested in security matters "in the course of security cooperation between the two countries." The last time in which accused persons were handed over to Yemen was in May 2004 when Riyadh handed over 41 Yemeni suspects and received in return one Saudi.

The two states witnessed a wave of attacks whose responsibility was blamed for al-Qaida organization which is led by Osama Bin laden. The two neighboring states also maintained their security cooperation to fight extremism and weapons smuggling operations on their long borders.
