Continued attacks, acts of detention in Iraq

The political developments in Iraq coincided with continued attacks and explosions in various parts of Iraq. In Karkouk to the north of the capital, three Iraqis were killed in two explosions, one of them by old explosives, to the east of the city and the second by a booby trapped car near al-Huweijah to the west of the city.
In another development, two police in charge of guarding the electricity generation station in Beiji to the north of Baghdad were killed. Two bodies for members of the rapid deployment forces of the Iraqi ministry of the interior were found on Sunday morning on the road between al-Dour and Samera.
Also in Samera, the police said hat gunmen kidnapped the director of the city's municipalities from his office. Other gunmen kidnapped one Iraqi contractor while he was driving his car in al-Dour area.
In Musil, a clash between American soldiers and gunmen resulted in the burning of medicine warehouse and medical needs in the city situated to the north of Iraq.
Also in the same city, the security forces detained during the two past days 22 suspects in breaking in operations carried out there. The security forces also detained in Baghdad several persons suspected to have links to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi groups who broadcast information on the Internet on operations in Iraq.
In other developments, five Iraqi soldiers were killed in mortar shelling that targeted an inspection point in al-Yousefeyah area to the south of Baghdad.
Meantime, the American army announced the killing of one of its soldiers in a clash with gunmen in al-Anbar governorate which includes al-Ramadai, Falluja to the west of Baghdad.
