Saudi security kills one driver at an inspection point in Jeddah

The Saudi security forces killed by bullets a man early on Sunday morning, as he did not stop at an inspection point in Jeddah, according to a security source.

The source said the incident took place when a man from Chad drove his car towards a check point in the downtown of Jeddah.

The source gave no further details on whether the man is among the wanted persons over ties of a wave of attacks in Saudi Arabia since May 2003.

No immediate confirmation was made for the incident from officials at the Saudi ministry of the interior.

Worthy mentioning that Jeddah has taken necessary security measures. It is hosting a three day economic forum to be attended by leaders including the President of Afghan Hamid Karazai and the prime minister of Pakistan Shawkat Aziz.

The city witnessed several attacks since December 2004 all attributed to al-Qaida organization when five gunmen broke into the complex of the American consulate in Jeddah and the attack resulted in killing five local workers. The security forces killed four attackers. Later, al-Qaida organization claimed responsibility for the attack.
