Body of Moroccan assassinated in Spain to be repatriated to his homeland

The Body of the Moroccan Aziz Hosni, assassinated last Sunday in Ejido, south-eastern Spain, will be repatriated to Morocco by Hassan II Foundation for Moroccan expatriates, said diplomatic sources on Friday.

The Foundation will take in charge all the expenses related to the repatriation, said Morocco's consul in Almeria, Abdelkhalek Atrari, who is following closely the probe on the killing of Aziz Hosni who was stabbed Sunday at midnight.

Local media had reported in the wake of the crime that the assassination may be linked to a drug affair. This was categorically rejected by local Unions and human rights associations that maintained it was a "racist crime."

Two persons suspected of involvement in the killing have been arrested.

In February 2000, the Moroccan community in El Ejido was the target of racist attacks after a Spanish woman was stabbed by a mentally-ill Moroccan. Hundreds of Moroccans were attacked at that time by racist Spaniards. The same scenario was reproduced in 2003 with a new series of brutal aggressions against Moroccans.
