Two Indonesian journalists kidnapped in Iraq
Iraq, Local, 2/19/2005

Iraqi gunmen on Friday detained two Indonesian journalists and their driver in al-Ramadi city which is situated to the west of Baghdad. The Indonesian embassy in Baghdad said that the two detained men ( one man and woman) were lost with their driver on the road linking between the Jordanian borders and Baghdad near al-Ramadi city.

No side claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of the two journalists who work in a TV station. So far the Indonesian foreign ministry prefers not to describe the incident as a kidnapping operation.

This operation came at a time when the French journalist Florence Obena and the Italian journalist Juliana Segrena have been kidnapped. The first was kidnapped since more than 40 days and the second since two weeks.
