French tourist killed, second wounded by mentally disturbed in Fez

A mentally-disturbed person attacked, on Thursday, two French tourists in the old medina of Fez, killing one of them and seriously wounding the other.

Abdelilah Al Mazzine, 29, attacked Monique Vanse Veren, 46, and her son Benjamin, 17, with a knife that he seized from a shop, stabbing the teenager in the heart, and wounding the mother.

Benjamin died immediately, while his mother was transported to the Al Ghassani hospital where she is receiving the necessary care.

The first elements of investigation show that the culprit is a mentally-disabled person. However, a thorough probe have been launched to determine if the killer has links with some organizations.
