Iranian advisor: cooperation with Syria is not against anyone

Iranian President Advisor Mohammed Shariati said on Thursday the Syria- Iran cooperation was not against any side or party inside or outside the region.

"The Syrian-Iranian cooperation is progressing since the start of the Iranian Islamic Revolution. It is not directed against anybody nor any side either in the region or outside it," the BBC quoted Shariati as saying.

He expressed Iran's readiness to expand cooperation with Syria in economy, culture and policy.

Syria and Iran signed Thursday afternoon a memo of understanding including signatory of three memos for cooperation by specialized ministers in fields of oil, technical and scientific research as well customs and administration cooperation agreement.

Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Ibrahim Hadad and his Iranian counterpart Bijian Namdar Zanganeh signed the cooperation memo in oil domain.

Minister of Culture Mohammed al-Sayed inked the memo of technical and scientific research cooperation with Iran's Minister for Science, research and technology Jafar Tawfiqi.

An agreement on customs and Administrative cooperatin was signed by Minister of Economy Amer Housni Lutfi and Iranian Minister of Housing Ali Abdulalizadeh.

Meetings of the Seventh Higher Joint Committee for cooperation between Syria and Iran concluded work this evening in Tehran in presence of Premier Naji Otari and Iran's First Vice President Mohammed Reza Aref.

The memo included many other domains of cooperation like trade, economy, investment, banking, finance, planning and industry.
