Attacks against oil pipelines in Iraq

The Iraqi ministry of oil said that four oil pipelines feeding the main refineries in Beiji and al-Doura were attacked and damaged in operations on Wednesday.
In a statement a spokesman for the ministry said that the pipe which transports crude oil from Karkouk oil fields to Beiji refinery was exposed to an attack near al-Fatha town in addition to another pipe supplying the same refinery.
Karkouk area is situated 225 Km to the north of Baghdad while Beiji refinery is situated 200 Km to the north of Baghdad.
The statement added that another pipe feeding al-Doura refinery in Baghdad as from the north was exposed to another destruction operation in the same area, while a fourth pipeline was damaged in al-Najwan area to the northern west of Karkouk.
Fire fighting teams started fighting the fires which erupted as a result of the destruction operations. Technical teams are assessing the damage in preparation for rehabilitation operations.
Iraq oil exports rate reached 1.55 million barrels daily in January. Its exports from the southern outlets reached 1.43 million barrels daily while the other 120,000 barrels are exported from the north.
