Cairo rejects a summit on Darfur, an agreement to resume Abuja talks

Egypt has rejected the call made by the African Union to convene a summit in Cairo over Darur.
The spokesman for the Egyptian presidency Suleiman Awad said following a meeting included President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak and his Libyan counterpart Muammar al-Qathafi that the results of the five member summit which was held in Chad should be analyzed before thinking of another summit.
A spokesman for the President of Nigeria whose country assumes the presidency of the Union had called for the said summit by the beginning of February.
Meantime, the conflicting sides in Darfur on Thursday agreed to resume the stumbled peace talks.
A mediator in the talks between the rebels who represent the Sudan Liberation Movement and al-Adel Wal Musawat and officials in the Sudanese government in Njamina, Chad, said that the two sides agreed to honor the ceasefire and to resume peace talks in Abuja. The mediator who asked to be anonymous said "Abuja operation was re-launched after the two sides gave assurances (in this regard)."
