Results of the elections in Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 2/18/2005

The higher commission for elections in Iraq said that the list of the United Iraq Coalition list supported by the Shiite clergy Ayatullah Ali al-Seistani got a smaller majority from the seats of the new parliamentary after ratification of final results of the legislative elections carried out by the end of January.

The commission explained in a press conference in Baghdad that the list got 140 seats of the parliament's 275 seats, followed by the Kurdish list of 75 seats and then the seat of the Interim Iraqi prime minister of 40 seats.

The list of the Interim Iraqi President Ghazi Elyawer came fourth after getting five seats followed by the list of the Turkman front and the list of independent national elite cadres close to al-Sader trend getting one seat each.

Meantime, the Iranian ambassador to Britain, Muhammad Hussein Adeli, said that his country collaborated closely with the US in order to provide a success for the recent elections in Iraq. He stressed that Tehran is ready to work once again with Washington in order to ensure stability in the Middle East when their interests meet.
