Lebanon asks for the Swiss experience in investigating Hariri assassination
Lebanon, Politics, 2/17/2005
Lebanon has officially asked for the help of Swiss experience in the investigations in the implications of the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri. News reports quoted official sources in Lebanon that Lebanon refused security cooperation with France in the investigation.
Judicial sources in Beirut said that the judge of investigations in the Lebanese military court Rasheed Muzhir decided to ask the help of Swiss experts specialized in "explosions," after the military investigator visited the site of the explosion once again.
The Lebanese government was greatly exposed to pressures in order to open international investigation in Hariri's death. However, the Lebanese deputy prime minister Issam Fares considered in a statement with al-Jazeera TV that this is a violation of the sovereignty of Lebanon who, as Fares said, welcomes Paris's help if the matter relates to giving experience.
