Denial of a claimed responsibility for Hariri's assassination
Lebanon, Politics, 2/16/2005

In a statement on the Internet, "al-Qaida organization in Bilad al-Sham" denied responsibility for what it called the Jihad and al-Salafeyah factions to Hariri's assassination incident.

The statement said "the attempt of the executing side to hold Jihad and al-Salafeyah factions in Bilad al-Sham responsible for the incident is just great lie." It held the Israeli intelligence or the Syrian and Lebanese intelligence the responsibility for the incident." An unidentified group calling itself "al-Nasra wal Jihad in Bilad al-Sham " claimed responsibility for the assassination of Hariri. In a video tape broadcast on Monday by al-Jazeera TV it said it carried out the fair punishment for the former Lebanese prime minister, as it alleged.

A man called Ahmad Abu Adas claimed he carried out the attack against Hariri who was called the "hireling of the Saudi regime and in revenge for those who were killed in Saudi Arabia." The speaker threatened the assassination to be the beginning of other assassination acts in the area.

The Lebanese security forces announced it broke into the house of Ahmad Tayser Abu Adas who appeared in the video tape but said he was not at his home, noting he belongs to one of the extremist Wahabbi trends.
