Unidentified group claims responsibility for Hariri's assassination
Lebanon, Politics, 2/15/2005

An Anonymous group calling itself "al-Nasra Wal Jihad Fee Bilad al-Sham " (Victory and Jihad in lands of al-Shaam ) claimed responsibility for Hariri's assassination.

Meantime, the Lebanese security forces broke into the house of the Palestinian who was recognized by his picture from a broadcast by al-Jazeera TV on Monday evening claiming the assassination of Hariri. Lebanese security sources said that the man was not in the house.

The group said in the video tape that "just punishment was conducted in the former Lebanese president, as it alleged." It added that a man called Ahmad Abu Adas carried out the attack against Hariri who was described as a hireling for the Saudi regime, and in revenge of what they killed in Saudi Arabia where the speaker threatened that the assassination attempt will be the beginning of other assassination attempts in Bilad al-Sham.

Hariri was killed in a booby trapped car explosion that targeted his procession in Ein al-Mreiseh to the west of Beirut. He arrived in the American university Hospital of Beirut as a burnt distorted body.

Also killed in the explosions were other nine persons including several body guards for Hariri while other 100 persons were injured. The Lebanese official TV said that more than 350 kg of explosives were used in the assassination operation.
