Abbas meets Egyptian security delegation, postpones meeting Palestinian groups

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday met with an Egyptian security delegation in Gaza, headed by the assistant for the director of the Egyptian intelligence lt. gen. Mustafa al-Buheiri.

The Egyptian delegation is on a mission in Gaza and the West Bank to to calm down and rehabilitate the Palestinian authority departments.

Well-informed sources said that the delegation briefed Abbas with the results of his members talks with the Islamic resistance movement( Hamas ) prior to the meeting between the Palestinian President and Hamas which was expected on Friday evening and postponed until today evening, giving no reason to the postponement.

The secretary general of the Palestinian presidency said that Mahmoud Abbas will be meeting the two delegations of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movement today evening to brief them with the results of Sharm al-Sheikh summit, noting that the Palestinian president will continue his meetings with the Palestinian groups on Sunday in the framework of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

The central committee of the Fatah movement will hold a meeting on Saturday in Gaza in the presence of Abbas in order to discuss latest security and political developments.

As from January, the Palestinian groups started to abide by a calm down period at the request of Abbas but it refused any official truce. It recently stressed it is not obliged to announce reciprocated cease fire declared at Sharm al-Sheikh summit.
