Sudanese Central Bank branch in the south this month

The Sudanese government and the Sudan People Liberation Movement have agreed that the Sudanese Central Bank will open a branch in southern Sudan area and work in this regard is expected during the current month.

This comes amid doubts prevailing Sudanese financial circles on the possibility of establishing the Central Bank branch before choosing a new capital for the southern area district.

The Sudanese finance minister Ahmad al-Hassan announced last week that he had opened an account in the Central Bank of Sudan to allocate in it the share of the southern Sudan government of oil exports revenues and another accounts for its share of the locally used crude oil and that these two accounts are to be opened in the Central Bank until a branch is opened for it in the south.

He added that measures to amend the law of the personal income tax are underway in line with the protocol to sharing the Sudanese wealth according to the peace agreement recently signed in Nairobi.
