Spanish justice indicts two new suspects in Madrid attacks
Morocco-Spain, Local, 2/11/2005
The Spanish justice department ruled on Wednesday to indict two Moroccans Rachid Bendouda and Rachid Mohammed Kaddour under the charges of "collaboration with a terrorist organisation."
Spanish justice, in charge of the Madrid March 11, 2004 attacks, Juan Del Olmo, ordered the indictment of Rachid Bendouda, 33, nicknamed "El Gordo," who was arrested last week in Madrid in Lavapies, the neighborhood where most of the suspected authors of the attacks lived.
Rachid Mohamed Kaddour, 35, was arrested in Melillia for suspicions of links with his fellow countryman Abdenabi Kounjaa, one of the seven men suspected of masterminding the bombings and who blew themselves up last April in the Madrid suburb of Leganˇs.
Kaddour is suspected to have connections with the Cheddadi brothers, accused of being involved in March 11 attacks. Bendouda's arrest comes in the wake of the apprehension of four Moroccans of the same family, who were believed to have abetted the escape from Madrid of two suspects in the bombings.
The attacks of Madrid last March 11 left 191 dead and over 1,500 wounded in Spain's bloodiest terrorist attacks.
