Israel abrogates meeting with Palestinians after bombarding its settlement
Palestine-Israel, Military, 2/11/2005
A well informed Palestinian source said that Israel abrogated a meeting which was due on Thursday between the Palestinian and Israeli negotiating teams because of bombardment of the Israeli settlements in Gaza early in the morning Thursday in the first operation of its kind after Sharm al-Sheikh summit in Egypt.
It was decided that the Palestinians and the Israelis will resume political and security meetings to discuss measures of building confidence in light of what was stated in Sharm al-Sheikh declaration of a reciprocated agreement to cease fire.
Salah Eddine al-Nasser groups, of the military resistance committees announced it had bombarded Eli Sinea settlement, to the north of Gaza, by two "Nasser missiles in retaliation of killing two Palestinians in Rafah and Ramullah by the Israelis.
Ezz Eddine al-Qassam groups, the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas), yesterday at dawn announced it had bombarded several Israeli settlements and military positions in Gaza by some 60 mortar shelling and Qassam missiles. The movement vowed in a statement cling to the option of resistance and bombardment of the Israeli settlements.
The spokesman for Hamas in Gaza said that the attack came as a retaliation to the Israeli violations in Rafah and killing of one Palestinian.
This attack came hours after attacks against one Palestinian from Rafah in Gaza as he was hit by one bullet fired at the nearby Atsamouna settlement, in what had seemed to be the first Israeli violation of the cease fire, just one day after the Sharm al-Sheikh summit.
In another development, news reports in Ramullah said that one Palestinian was killed by the Israeli forces bullets in Wadi al-Harameyah near Ramullah in the West Bank on Thursday morning after opening fire at the car which he was riding.
In another development, two persons were killed and a third kidnapped and others were injured in a breaking operation of the central prison of Gaza in the complex for the security departments ( al-Saraya) in the downtown of the city. The breaking in was carried out by scores of gunmen. A spokesman for the Palestinian police stressed the breaking in operation and the killing of prisoners. He said that an investigation was opened on the implications of the incident which is believed came over a "revenge case."
