Arab, international welcome of Sharm al-Sheikh Summit

Most international reactions have welcomed the results of Sharm al-Sheikh summit in considering it the beginning to revive the peace process.
Washington has announced its content over the summit. The US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice said in Paris that the opportunity is currently available in the Middle East as the best in order to achieve peace.
She indicated that the Arab states deserves a better future than what it is now.
The spokesman for the US Department Of State Adam Early said that what was achieved in Sharm al-sheikh was a step to dismantling the infrastructure of what he called terrorist organizations.
For its part, the European Union commended the summit. The higher representative for the foreign relations at the Union, Javier Solana, urged Sharon and Abbas to continue dialogue in order to achieve the "peace dream" in the Middle East. The British foreign office secretary Jacque Straw described the day of the summit as historic and expressed his optimism over the reciprocated cease fire declaration.
On the Arab level, the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa expressed a cautious welcome towards the results of Sharm al-Sheikh summit. He said that Sharon's statements over opening a new page with the Palestinians is good but the best thing is that statements will be connected to action, otherwise this new page will be built on the ideas of the past. He also expressed hope that the agreement will be an introduction to implement the Roadmap peace plan.
Meantime, the Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath said following his talks in Damascus with the Syrian deputy foreign minister Walid al-Muallim that Syria's position towards Sharm al-Sheikh summit is positive. The Palestinian official underlined the importance of coordinating stances with Damascus so as comprehensive peace will be achieved.
