Morocco and Bahrain sign agreement to boost trade
Morocco-Bahrain, Economics, 2/9/2005

Morocco and Bahrain signed a memo of understanding providing for a package of joint actions to mutually showcase their products and boost bilateral trade.

The document signed by Moroccan foreign trade minister, Mustapha Mechahouri, during his visit to Bahrain and Bahraini minister of industry and trade Hassan Fakhro.

The Moroccan official's visit to Manama was part of a tour in Arab Gulf countries.

Accompanied by a business delegation, Mechahouri attended the opening of the 10th Islamic countries trade fair

The mission to Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar seeks to increase the volume of Moroccan exports to the region and promote Morocco as a destination for trade and investments, the ministry says.

Morocco's trade with the three Arab countries remains weak with exports hardly exceeding 47 million MAD (around 4.7 Mln Euro) and imports valued at 450 million MAD (45 Mln Euro) in 2004.
