King Mohammed VI dedicates vocational training center at Ait Melloul prison
Morocco, Local, 2/9/2005

Morocco's King Mohammed VI dedicated on Tuesday a vocational training center which will provide training to the inmates of the prison of Ait Melloul, South-West Morocco.

The center is part of the pilot project for inmates socio-professional rehabilitation launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the rehabilitation of prisoners in cooperation with the justice department and the vocational training office (OFPPT).

The center is to teach skills to some 228 prisoners in 2005, which is 43 percent of the total number of inmates in the Ait Melloul prison.

The construction of the center cost 2.3 million Dhs (230,000 euros) including the renovation of existing buildings and the purchase of new equipment. The running budget of 2005 amounts to 1.4 million Dhs.

The Mohammed VI foundation will also ensure training to the inmates after their release.
