Berri, Karami for good relationship with Syria

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri stressed importance of commitment to al-Taif Agreement on Lebanon and the unity of track and destiny with Syria.

Berri told a news conference following a national gathering held in Beirut that the meeting was organized to show interest for the best benefits of both countries. He added that the Syrian redeployment in Lebanon is up to the Joint Syrian-Lebanese Political and Military Committee.

For his part, prime Minister Omar Karami said the national gathering in Beirut mainly aims to show commitment to the national firm principles.

He added "we are careful for Lebanon and its national unity ... our hands are stretched out to everybody for the dialogue on the national firm principles."
