Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak called on Tuesday for the resumption of negotiations on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks to reach a just and comprehensive solution to Middle East.

"This will be in accordance with the international resolutions and the 'land for peace' formula," Mubarak said in a word at the end of the Sharm al-Sheikh meeting, urging the international community and the Quartet to work as to define framework and clear steps to make the peace process reach its aspired to aim.

Mubarak hoped the Sharm al-Sheikh meeting would pose as the first step to move the peace process in the region on its correct track and in a way that would make security and stability, specially; as the region is in need of peace that generations of present and future would enjoy.

"Arab countries have chosen peace as strategic option and the Arab summit of Beirut lunched a comprehensive initiative to make security and stability for all," he said.

Mubarak underlined that the success of negotiations is depending on adopting quick and serious steps in the framework of a clear political horizon. He demanded Israel to withdraw from Gaza Strip and cities of the West Bank in coordination and cooperation with the Palestinian Authority as a beginning to resume the peace process and to achieve the building of the Palestinian state.
