Five gunmen surrendered in a security raid in Kuwait

Five wanted men in Kuwait surrendered themselves to the security forces after they were besieged in a residential area to the west of the capital. The Kuwaiti ministry of the interior introduced the five men in a statement circulated on that they are three Jordanians and two other Saudis.

A security source and witnesses said that the security forces supported by armored vehicles besieged yesterday al-Sulebieh area, 20 Km to the west of the capital, in search of suspected persons.

The Kuwaiti official news agency KUNA said that five surrendered in the raid which is considered the fifth confrontation this year between the policemen and the gunmen suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization, believed to carry out attacks against the American forces in the country and the state security forces.

Security sources said that sounds of bullets were heard in the region and no other details were mentioned. The sources could not identify the number of persons who were in the two houses which were situated in the said quarters which is inhabited by Kuwaitis, Arab expatriates and a group of al-Badoun individuals who do not have the identity and claimed to be originally Kuwaiti Bedouins.
