Lebanese officials cling to national unity, appreciation for Syria's role

Lebanese Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hamoud underlined Syria's keenness on Lebanon's unity and solidarity, particularly during the current circumstances.
In a statement on Friday, Hammoud said that Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed al-Muallem's mission in Lebanon concentrated on bringing together all the Lebanese parties which confirms that Syria is seeking to realize internal stability in Lebanon.
For his part, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon, Sheikh Abdulamir Qabalan, called upon the international community and the UN to curb the Israeli defiance represented by violations of the Lebanese airspaces and aggression on its lands.
During Friday's sermon, Qabalan also underlined the necessity of liberating Shabaa farms, pointing out at the Palestinian and Iraqi peoples' sufferings, calling for liberating all the occupied Arab lands.
Also, Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nasri Khouri on Friday stressed Syria's keenness on Lebanon's national unity, sovereignty and independence.
"Syria is always careful to built good relations with all Lebanese sections," Khouri said in an interview broadcast by TL television.
He added that Syria has been doing her best to enhance the institutional relations between the two countries, pointing out that mechanism of cooperation and coordination between the two states is obvious as well as it emerges from the bilateral agreements between them including Treaty of Brotherhood, Cooperation, and Coordination.
Khouri touched upon the positive results of the Syrian-Lebanese Economic and Social Committee meetings which were held in Beirut last.
Meantime, Lebanese member of Parliament Wajeih al-Bareini stressed that all Lebanon's achievements were due to Syria so the Lebanese nation, backed by Syria, defeated the Israeli occupation and expelled it from south Lebanon.
Al-Bareini assured in a statement that the Syrian-Lebanese relations are always considered as a way to face the existing foreign dangers and challenges.
"There are in Lebanon so many friends and allies to Syria who stand by her because Syria always stands by the Lebanese people," he said, pointing out that Syria's national and pan-Arab method has been serving the Syrian-Lebanese relations.
