Lebanese opposition intensified against Syria
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 2/4/2005
The Lebanese opposition forces has been unifying their ranks against Syria demanding complete withdrawal of the Syrian forces and non- interference in the Lebanese internal affairs in implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Following a meeting for the leaderships of the Iraqi opposition, Junblat called for halt of the interference of the Syrian intelligence in the Lebanese internal affairs.
In reaction, the Lebanese prime minister threatened taking measures, he did not specify, against those who oppose the Syrian presence in Lebanon. In statements to the press following a meeting for the government on Thursday, Karami said that the escalation of political tension in Lebanon is because the "opposition has violated all frontiers." He explained "they, will see themselves what will happen in the two next days." Karami strongly criticized Junblat's statements in which he demanded the delegate of the Syrian President Walid al-Mu'allim that he should bring with him next time buses to carry the Syrian intelligence officers who are deployed in Beirut and bring them back to Syria.
