Seistani supported list advances the elections in Iraq

The Independent Higher Commission Of Elections in Iraq announced the completion of counting some 1.6 million voting cards and that the list which is sponsored by the religious clergy Ayatullah Ali al-Seisatni got 72% of these votes.
The list won about one million votes in the areas of Baghdad and the governorates of Karbala, Najaf, Zee Qar, al-Qadeseyah and al-Muthanna. The list of the interim prime minister Eyad Allawi occupied the second position by getting 18.4% of the votes.
The surprise lied in the list of "cadres and the independent national elite" list led by Fathallah Ghazi Ismael which won the third position. The list of "Iraqis" ( Iraqeyoun) led by the interim Iraqi president Ghazi Elyawer won the fourth position.
Meantime, the leader of the Kurdistani Democratic Party Masoud al-Barazani said in a joint press conference with the leader of the Kurdistani National Federation Jalal a-Talibani that the latter will be the candidate for the post of the prime minister or the President in Iraq in case that a Kurdish will assume one of the two posts after the elections.
The two parties represent 90% of the population in the Kurdish areas to the north of Iraq. Together, they constitute an alliance in the elections, expected to occupy the second or third position.
