Stumbled Israeli- Palestinian negotiations
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 2/3/2005
News reports on Wednesday indicated the stumbled negotiations between the Israeli defense minister Shaoul Mofaz and the Palestinian former minister of the interior Muhammad Dahlan. The two sides failed to reach an agreement over Israeli withdrawal from four cities in the West Bank.
Mofaz loomed to a recession in the Israeli position concerning withdrawal from certain cities in the West Bank because of the recent attack of the Palestinian resistance against the settlements, in revenge for the killing of one Palestinian female child by the Israeli bullets.
For his part, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed in Ankara that a progress towards peace in the Middle East was achieved recently.
