Moroccan PM hails Colombia's stance on Sahara issue
Morocco-Colombia, Politics, 2/2/2005

Moroccan Premier, Driss Jettou, praised, in Rabat Monday, Colombia's "positive stance" on the Sahara conflict that opposes Morocco to the Polisario separatists that are claiming the separation of the kingdom's southern provinces (known as the Sahara).

During talks with visiting Speaker of the Colombian Senate, Luis Homberto Gomez Gallo, the Moroccan Premier reiterated his country's readiness to encourage any negotiated solution that respects Morocco's sovereignty over its southern provinces.

Colombia is among several countries that have withdrawn their recognition of Polisario's self-proclaimed "Sahara Republic" which is diplomatically, militarily and logistically backed by Algeria.
