Maroc-Telecom realizes sales of nearly US $2.1 Bln in 2004
Morocco, Business, 2/2/2005
Maroc-telecom achieved in 2004 sales of nearly 17,9 billion Dhs (about US $2.1 billion), registering a rise of 12.8 percent compared to 2003.
Cellphones scored the highest performance with 10.1 billion Dhs (around US $1.19 billion), i.e percent more than 2003. Meanwhile, the performance of fixed-line phones and the internet remained stagnant and was estimated at 11.18 billion Dhs (around US $1.31 billion), i.e -0.2 percent.
According to a release of Maroc-Telecom, the good performance of cellphones is due to the growth of the number of subscribers to nearly 6.4 millions (22 percent).
The release ascribes the stagnation of sales of fixed-line phones and the internet to the drop in January 2004 of connection tariffs.
