Spain arrests four Moroccans in connection with Madrid attacks

The Spanish security services arrested this Tuesday in a southern suburbs of Madrid four members of a family, suspected of being involved in the terrorist attacks of Madrid last March 11.

According to a source at the Spanish interior ministry, the father and mother, only identified with their initials, together with their two children are accused of helping two suspected terrorists escape.

The Madrid train station explosions, which killed 191 persons and wounded 1,500 others.

The family members are suspected of being connected to the Moroccan banned Islamic combatant group, particularly with leading members arrested in Belgium (in March 2004), in France (June 2004) and in Spain (December 2004).

According to the interior ministry, the family has helped two Islamic radicals flee after the collective suicide of seven suspected authors of the attacks in the same suburbs.
