American army and the kidnapped soldiers in Iraq

A statement attributed to al-Mujahideen groups issued on an Internet site said they are holding an American soldier after he was kidnapped in an armed operation in Iraq. However, the American army doubted this allegation, denying that any of its soldiers to have disappeared.

One American military source said that none of the army units working in Iraq had lost any of its personnel.

The statement issued on the Internet showed a photo for one American soldier sitting on the ground with his hands tightened to his back.

One armed Iraqi group calling itself "Saraya al-Mujahideen" ( militant groups) threatened to kill the American soldier which they said his name is John Adam and to hold him after killing his colleagues within 72 hours if the Iraqi prisoners will not be released.

Worthy mentioning al-Mujahideen groups claimed responsibility for two kidnapping operations in the past. One of them was the kidnapping of three Japanese in April, who were released later and the kidnapping of one Brazilian engineer lost after an attack at an American vehicle in January.

Worthy mentioning that more than 180 foreigners were kidnapped in 2004. Most of the kidnapping operations were announced in video tape of pictures issued on an Internet site. At least ten of the hostages including three Americans are still held by their kidnappers.

In other field developments one person was killed and another injured in the last clashes erupted between gunmen and soldiers of the Iraqi national guards in Musil to the north of Iraq. Four members of the National Iraqi guards were killed in a bomb explosion to the north west of the city.

In Sameraa to the north of Baghdad, five persons were killed and other 6 injured as a result of two bomb explosion in the city which is situated to the north of Baghdad.

Despite the armed operations and that the results of the elections are not announced yet, the Iraqi government re-opened the borders and permitted air flights and reduced curfew hours. The election results will be announced within one week to ten days time.
